Interview with Abbas Kiarostami
Referencing Iranina portrait paintings
- thinking of using the iranian patterns as a frame for the poster
- colour shceme is very warm and orange-brown like so that could be the main colour theme of our shoot just to bring in colour references from original irnian art
- i also notice that the women in the paintings were accessories such as pearl necklaces
- women also show quite a lot of skin in the paintings as compared to the current state of iran where women are forced to cover up so its ironic how their social-culutral fashion is going backward in terms of being less liberal
- hence we want to bring in past references to our look just to show the roots of iranian style is about

The Minimalist Cinema of Abbas Kiarostami
Balenciaga Campaign
- the shoot setup is simple and yet clear in communicating the brand's clothes and branding through the repetitive logo used as a backdrop
- their posing is similar to what we want to achieve where the model is posed with a chair and the model has a expression-less face
- the contrast between the grey backdrop and the coloured garments helps to draw the viewer's focus into the actual garments and without a digital logo disrupting the composition of the photo helps us to only focus on the garments while still being aware of the brand
- i hope to achieve this kind of effect with simplicity and effectiveness in communicating sara's designs through our campaign
- we looked at victorian portrait paintings to see the way the ay the subjects are posed and their facial expression
- we also want to cast a model that suit the aesthetic and beauty standards of the past so almost like like a natural subtle beauty look as oppose to high fashion
